Recognised on a national stage: Fulcrum Care named “Highly Commended” in Turnaround Firm of the Year at the 2025 TRI Awards

On 26 November 2025, we joined leading turnaround, restructuring and insolvency professionals at the Hilton London Bankside for the 18th TRI Awards – the UK’s leading awards programme for the sector.

Despite a strong field, we’re delighted to share that Fulcrum Care was recognised as “Highly Commended” in the Turnaround Firm of the Year category at this year’s awards.

Recognition for care sector turnaround – alongside the UK’s biggest firms

The Turnaround Firm of the Year category sits at the heart of the TRI Awards, recognising organisations who deliver outstanding, measurable transformation in struggling businesses and services.

This year’s shortlist brought together some of the UK’s most respected restructuring teams – including BDO UK’s Business Restructuring Team, Interpath and PwC – with Fulcrum Care representing the social care sector.

To be named Highly Commended in this group is a significant acknowledgement of the impact that specialist turnaround support can have in care homes and care organisations – not just on balance sheets, but on residents, families, staff and local communities.

What “Highly Commended” means for our clients

Awards are never the goal in themselves. For our clients, this recognition matters because it reflects what we do every day:

  • Stabilising services in crisis – from Letters of Concern and Section 31 Notices to threatened or active embargos, we step in quickly to stabilise risk, protect residents and rebuild local authority and CQC confidence.
  • Putting Good Governance (Regulation 17) into practice – we help providers implement robust systems for audit, risk management and quality monitoring, so compliance is sustainable rather than a short-term project.
  • Recovering financial performance – by improving occupancy, tackling operational inefficiencies and focusing on workforce stability, we support owners and operators to return services to viability, not just survival.
  • Supporting leadership and culture – our team includes experienced care home managers and CQC experts who work alongside your leadership to embed better decision-making, clearer accountability and a culture of safe, person-centred care.

Every turnaround project we take on is about protecting the people at the centre of care – residents, their families and the staff who support them.

A specialist turnaround partner for care

Care providers face a unique combination of pressures: workforce shortages, rising costs, changing regulation and intense public scrutiny. When something goes wrong – a poor CQC rating, a serious safeguarding concern, or rapid leadership turnover – the risk of reputational and financial damage is immediate.

Our turnaround service is built specifically for this reality. We:

  • Carry out rapid diagnostic reviews across quality, governance, finance and operations
  • Co-design clear, practical action plans with boards, owners and managers
  • Provide hands-on interim management and coaching where needed
  • Put in place monitoring, reporting and mock inspection processes to demonstrate sustained improvement to regulators and commissioners.

The “Highly Commended” recognition at the 2025 TRI Awards is, to us, a reflection of the trust that providers place in Fulcrum when things are most challenging.

Thank you to our clients, partners and team

We’d like to thank:

  • The TRI Awards judges and organisers for recognising the importance of turnaround in social care
  • Our clients – owners, investors, boards and registered managers – who invite us into their services at difficult moments
  • Local authorities and regulators who work collaboratively with us to support safe, sustainable improvement
  • And, above all, the Fulcrum team, whose expertise, persistence and care have made this recognition possible
